Can You Put Sprinkles in the Oven?

Yes! You can put sprinkles in the oven but to prevent the sprinkles from bleeding and dying your cookie dough, they need to be handled carefully so the colors stay intact.

That means the sprinkles should be gently stirred into the dough to help them keep their shape and to prevent them from breaking down and dying the dough - unless you want the sprinkles to meltdown and dye the dough.

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients- Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until the dry ingredients are moistened.

Stir in the mix-ins- Using a spatula, gently stir in the sprinkles and the M&M's. The reason for using a spatula is so that the sprinkle colors don't bleed into the cookie dough. It also prevents over beating the cookie dough and making them dense.

Scoop the dough- Use a #30 cookie scoop, or roll 2 tablespoons of cookie dough into a ball, drop the cookie dough into balls and place them two inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets. Top with additional M&M's if desired.

Bake- Bake for 10-12 minutes. Bake one cookie sheet at a time.

Cool- Allow the cookies to cool for 10 minutes before moving to a wire cooling rack to cool completely. These cookies are soft baked cookies and will be hard to handle until they are cooled.
